Building with SureCav panels instead of using a block leaf provides a barrier to protect from the elements. The SureCav panels provide an excellent surface for the construction of the stone wall, and shield the cavity and inner leaf from water penetration.
The unique shape of the SureCav pods directs any moisture to the outside leaf, protecting the fabric of the building. SureCav ensures that there is no water penetration from wind-driven rain with a 25mm or 50mm residual cavity instead of the often required 75mm in very severe exposure zones.
The barrier formed by the panels, locked together by the joining strips, will protect the structure in even the most exposed weather conditions.
As it is forms the cavity, SureCav also provides a "plastic wall" inside the cavity - a permanent plastic shuttering This acts as a barrier against any penetrating rain, especially in high moisture zones.
Now you have removed the 100mm backing block and reduced the residual cavity to 25mm, you now have the choice of:
1. Creating up to 6.5% additional floor space over 2 floors, using the original external dimensions
Surecav25 saves 25mm of cavity and results in 1.25% of extra internal space on an average two storey three-bedroom house. If the house sells for £280,000, it is the equivalent of £3,500 of extra value for a cost of only the SureCav25! This is excellent value, even for brick-builds!
For external finishes of stone and flint, where you have removed the need for the concrete-block backing wall, the space gained can rise to as much as 6.5%, realising an extra value of £18,200 for a £280,000 house!
2. Using the created space to add more insulation to help lower U-Values.
Meet the 2022 Building Regulations requirements for walls. SureCav25 permits 75mm insulation in a designed 100mm overall cavity, allowing U-Values to be reduced as low as 0.18W/m2K
3. Reducing the external dimensions.
It has been calculated that you could add an extra house on a 70 house site by using SureCav25! By making the walls narrower, the overall dimensions of the building can be reduced, saving space on the plot.
